Many years ago, I bought this baker’s table at a garage sale.

I think this is a baker’s table, that’s what I’ve called it all along. It started out life as something like that, probably in the late 1800’s or early 1900’s, with its bin for holding flour and baking supplies.

The drawers have obviously been used to store knives in with their telltale scars. And in this pic you can see the double pullout cutting boards.
I bought this antique piece of furniture for around $50 and the previous owner had done all the refinishing!
I think they had used it as a base to set their television on, and kept components in the cupboard and movies etc in the drawers.

When I first bought it, I lived in a different house, and this piece worked in my kitchen.

But now this antique bakers table sits in my dining room, under the arch window I treated with antique stained glass window I turned into shutters, and next to the entry where it stores junk, mostly playing cards and games, but some weird miscellaneous that you never know where to put, so it winds up in the closest drawer you can find, and I guess since this piece has several drawers it winds up being a good candidate for dumping.

Speaking of drawers, I love the beautiful bin pulls that I believe are original to the piece. Their design reminds me of an Irish knot design.

Where it will end up next, who knows? It’s had a few purposes so far in its long life. Really, I could see it working in any room of the house, couldn’t you?
