The Story of the 7 Barns

Last week I showed you some fun things we did during our ‘Weekend in the Country’ time… here’s where we were headed from Hayward, WI…

This photo is from: www.lakesuperiorbarn.com

Isn’t it beautiful?

This is a huge house, (that you can rent by the week) located on the South shore of Lake Superior. It is constructed of repurposed wood from 7 different barns.

Inside the house, there are pictures of each of the 7 barns when they were still standing.

We were so fortunate and thrilled to be invited up to stay with some very dear family friends that were staying at this house for the week.

Here is a close up I took of the back of the house, you can clearly see the different sidings from the original structures, and how they repurposed them for this house.

But the antique wood is not only visible on the outside…

Once you step foot inside this magnificent space, it’s clear to see the amount of antique wood and beams used throughout the house.

The creativity with the light fixtures was very intriguing too.

This one, fashioned from a part of an old barrel hangs over the landing.

And here you can see the industrial creation that hangs over the huge island in the kitchen.

And the dining room fixture created from a barn beam and antique pulleys.

It is a stunning light fixture and a possibility for a DIY project, don’t you think?
