We’ve all been there, right?
That frustrating moment when you’re trying to get a piece of furniture, snug up to the wall, and it just won’t go any closer… after pushing and shoving it and checking to be sure it’s not snagged on the rug… it seems to be a total mystery to its stubbornness of not moving back any further… Why? Why is there a 3″ gap between the back of the furniture and the wall you’re trying to get it to?
Then it hits you, (usually after you have to move that piece of furniture back out)
Aha! There is an outlet behind there, and the plug on the cord in the outlet is sticking straight out bumping into the back of the piece of furniture. Argh! so frustrating!
But wait, don’t give up hope…
This is not just any old extension cord, it has a special feature.
Have you seen these? (Technically, I think they’re called ‘right angle plugs’, it is the actual plug that is different from standard extension cords.) They’re maybe just slightly more than a standard extension cord, but not by much. I bought 4 at Walmart a couple months ago, and found spots in my house for all of them… I’m going to get a couple more just to have on hand.
Why are they so special?
With the standard plug, there is the hard plastic plug part sticking straight out, but as you really shouldn’t bend the wire right away from that plug, in reality the gap is 3″ from the outlet.
However, on the right angle plug, the cord comes out at a right angle instead of straight out, thus allowing the cord to safely lay close to the wall and give you room to safely snug the furniture right up to it. So clever!
Can you think of any place in your house you could use a right angle plug extension cord?

They are brilliant, aren’t they? They make such a difference, especially behind a dresser or desk.
