Thanksgiving Chalkboard Message
Posted by Liz
As Thanksgiving is this week, and my kitchen chalkboard still had the ‘Bloom where you are planted‘ message on it with lovely spring tulips… I decided it was for sure time to change the message over for the season. But since Christmas and it’s message will be right around the corner, I didn’t want to spend too much time working on detailed artwork just to erase it in a week. So, here’s my simple Thanksgiving chalkboard message…

Autumn Arranging
Posted by Liz
Fall is a season of nesting. A time to bring the focus back inside after a season of outdoor activities. By changing up some arrangements and accessories, the house is transformed to a new season. In the Autumn arranging around the house, I love using warm earth tone elements brimmed with textural character. Here’s what I did on the built in buffet…
The Message in the Mirror
Posted by Liz
What’s the message you hear when you look in the mirror? On this mirror, (which happened to start out as a mirror discarded on the curb, free for the taking) the message is clearly not the famous words of an insecure Queen, mentally caught in a competition to be the fairest of them all, but instead the message in the mirror is a Bible verse, reminding us what is so much more important than our outward appearance. Lighthouses of Maine: Touring Wood Island Lighthouse
Posted by Liz
Maine is famous for the lighthouses off its coast. Some of the lighthouses of Maine are now open for tours, and if you ever have the opportunity to travel to our nation’s most northeastern state, I’d recommend you take the time to visit one of these historical landmarks. On the southern coast of Maine, close to Biddeford Pool in Saco Bay is a beautiful lighthouse that is being carefully restored. I’ve been there a few times, and thought I’d share with you a little of what’s it like touring Wood Island Lighthouse.

The Beauty of Fences
Posted by Liz
I love a good fence. (even a so-so fence can appeal to me) New England has so wonderful examples of great fences that I just have to share some with you. Instead of filling this post up with my words, I’d thought I’d mix it up a bit, so along with the pictures I took showing you the beauty of fences, (mostly from the Kennebunks) I’m including quotes about ‘fences’ from some well known folks…

DIY Table with a Coastal Design
Posted by Liz
I found a pair of 1980’s tables at a yard sale for around $15 each, they were the perfect size for what I needed, and super solid and sturdy, but… oh that oak finish… not my favorite. Time to get out the paint brush and see what I could come up with… After a little bit of sketching, and painting here’s how I created a DIY table with a coastal design… (well actually 2 tables) and the steps to get there are super simple!
Landlubber Experiences Portland’s Tall Ship Parade
Posted by Liz
That’s what they call ‘us’ out here… ‘landlubbers’! ‘They’ are the people that know the sea and we landlubbers are the ones that don’t. It’s true… I don’t know much about the sea and sailing it at all, but I am fascinated by it. I had the fortunate experience last week to be in Portland, Maine when the tall ships gathered. I’ve got to be honest, until last week, I had never even heard the expression ‘tall ship’! But now I can proudly say this landlubber has experienced Portland’s tall ship parade and more!
