After we first bought our 100 year old house and started to renovate it a little over a year ago, it had a very spacious powder room on the main floor, but everything about that powder room was a problem! I designed a new floor plan to actually make the powder room smaller in order to make it much more effiecient and function so much better!

Our House: A Fireplace with a Few Confessions…

In the family room at ‘Our House’ I recently installed a fireplace and brick chimney chase all by myself!
You maybe noticed it in this picture I showed you a little bit ago when I told you how I turned these plantation shutters I found on Craigslist into a giant folding screen behind the sectional.
Well, there on the right is the brick chimney and fireplace I installed, all totally on my own.

This has been a long time coming. I started to show you a tour of our “garage turned dining room” in January, but then I was delayed in showing this corner because it’s where I had tons of stuff stored for renovations on the “Little Brick Cottage”, but finally, it’s ready to be seen by blogland!

Master Bathroom Vanity, Before and After

Here are a few more pictures to show you those areas; starting with my vanity area:
Because there is so much painted wood in the room, on the horizontal and vertical beadboarded walls, as well as the carsiding on the ceiling, I really wanted to have some woodgrain to contrast, so the vanities and linen stepback cupboard are cherry with a dark glaze, and the little antique Victorian chair next to the tub is dark walnut.
