Mantels: The 'Hearth' of the Home

Oh boy, kinda corny, huh? Oh well. But certainly the mantel and hearth do have a ‘heart of the home’ feeling. Typically, they’re the focal point of the main room in the house. That’s why we love to decorate them.

Simple Fall Centerpiece for the Kitchen Island

After I finished with the fall cleaning and adding a some fall décor to some of the rooms, I realized that the kitchen island needed a little something.

The island in the kitchen at ‘Our House’ is the first thing you see when you come into the room, and I usually try to be mindful of that… when it’s not piled high with papers, mail and miscellaneous… ok, so apparently since it’s the first thing you see, it’s the first place to dump… it’s a constant battle to keep it clean.

Inspiring Fall Colors

I love Fall… the crispness of the air, the ripe apples in the orchard, and the gorgeous colors are all wonderful inspirations for me to clean, cook and redecorate!

This week as I was getting ready to show ‘Our House’ (we starting to spread the word that it’s on the market, and if that doesn’t spread enough to sell it, we’ll probably list it with a realtor in the spring) anyway, I was really enjoying doing some thorough fall cleaning, and as I cleaned each room, I rewarded myself with, not only a clean room, but then I’d pause and decorate it for fall.
