Ever Thought About Dressing Up Your House with Shutters?
As I’ve been working on painting the exterior of ‘Our House’, it’s brought me to do some homework, because I am considering adding shutters to some of the windows on it, but if I do, I’ve seen plenty of beautiful shutters on houses in towns we’ve been to in Maine and the East Coast to know that most of the ones I’ve seen around here in the Midwest are not properly installed… and unfortunately can look rather awkward. Quick Project: DIY Personalized Pillow
Yesterday, my 7 year old granddaughter was finishing up a couple day stay with me, and as we were taking a break from the heat outdoors, to do a little work on the dollhouse furniture, she expanded the craft-time to ask me to sew a pillow for her with her name on it.
She loves that I sew, and always thinks up projects for me to sew for her when we go downstairs to the sewing area… Plus she really wants to learn to sew too, which I would love to teach her, so it’s a win-win situation.
Being the genius-creative little girl that she is, her wheels start turning just by looking at the pile of ‘stuff’ in my craft closet, so what started out as a little pillow for the dollhouse bed, was a fun transition for her into a personalized pillow. READ ON…

Monday’s Simple Cleverness: Handy Paint Pail
I have done a lot of painting in my life… I couldn’t even begin to count all the rooms, woodwork, furniture, exterior houses and sheds I’ve painted in all the years…
but still for some reason, I felt like I was really splurging when I purchased this ‘Handy Roller Pail’ from Menard’s a few years ago. I guess because paint cans are free, for so many years it seemed silly to ‘buy’ a paint pail.
But, let me tell you, it is wonderful! One of the best investments I’ve made. Not only has it saved me money and time, but I figure probably my life too! READ ON…

In Case You Missed the Memo… I’ve Been a Painting Fool this Summer
The exterior of ‘Our House’ really needed a fresh coat of paint, (it’s cedar lap siding) and I decided to change the color from green to blue… but when we bought the house 16 years ago, it was stained gray, let me show you:
