Ever Thought About Dressing Up Your House with Shutters?

Timberlane Shutters

As I’ve been working on painting the exterior of ‘Our House’, it’s brought me to do some homework, because I am considering adding shutters to some of the windows on it, but if I do, I’ve seen plenty of beautiful shutters on houses in towns we’ve been to in Maine and the East Coast to know that most of the ones I’ve seen around here in the Midwest are not properly installed… and unfortunately can look rather awkward. Our House: Vintage Enamel Top Table finds New Life on the Porch

I’m so happy to tell you that the ‘pergola-turned-porch’ is done, I’ll do a full reveal on Tuesday, July 3 of that, but for today, I wanted to show a table I have on that finished porch:

This crackle paint treatment is the real deal! I have done nothing to it, age and years of being outside in the elements did to it. READ ON…

Quick Project: DIY Personalized Pillow

Yesterday, my 7 year old granddaughter was finishing up a couple day stay with me, and as we were taking a break from the heat outdoors, to do a little work on the dollhouse furniture, she expanded the craft-time to ask me to sew a pillow for her with her name on it.

I have done a lot of painting in my life… I couldn’t even begin to count all the rooms, woodwork, furniture, exterior houses and sheds I’ve painted in all the years…

but still for some reason, I felt like I was really splurging when I purchased this ‘Handy Roller Pail’ from Menard’s a few years ago. I guess because paint cans are free, for so many years it seemed silly to ‘buy’ a paint pail.

But, let me tell you, it is wonderful! One of the best investments I’ve made. Not only has it saved me money and time, but I figure probably my life too! READ ON…

In Case You Missed the Memo… I’ve Been a Painting Fool this Summer

The exterior of ‘Our House’ really needed a fresh coat of paint, (it’s cedar lap siding) and I decided to change the color from green to blue… but when we bought the house 16 years ago, it was stained gray, let me show you:

This is what the front of ‘Our House’ looked like the day we moved in.

After much hard work, a lot of landscaping, and building a pergola a few years ago, and painting (3 times over the past 15 years) here’s what that same porch looked like before we painted it this last time… when it was still green: READ ON…
