So here’s a great product from their ‘Alaska’ product line: ‘Alaska Fish Fertilizer 5-1-1’.

A lot of gardeners prefer fish fertilizer, it’s like the package states, “Fish has been used as a natural source of plant nutrients for centuries. Alaska Fish Fertilizer 5-1-1 provides a rich source of organic matter that breaks down and releases nutrients into the soil to enhance the strength and vigor of your plants. Additionally, naturally occurring soil microbes thrive and work their best in soil rich in organic matter.”

From my research, I do believe it is one of the best sources for plant food… remember in social studies… Squanto taught the pilgrims how using the fish parts planted with the corn would help it grow… makes sense to me!

The directions for use are super simple and easy… There is a simple graph on the back of the bottle telling you how many tablespoons per gallon of water you need for which type of plant or container.

For me, in this planter, that I just planted a couple days ago, I’m doing the recommended 1 Tablespoon per gallon for outdoor container plants. (you can also use this ‘Alaska Fish Fertilizer 5-1-1’ for indoor plants, there are directions for proper mixing for large indoor plants as well as flowering indoor plants)

I just simply add it to my vintage watering can with the water from the rain barrel, and then feed my plants while I water them to a happy and healthy summer!

Nice too that according to the directions, I only need to do this fertilizer once every three weeks.

Now, don’t forget to comment below… and let me know all the ways you follow me, so that for each ‘follow’ you’ll get another chance at winning the $25 American Express card!!
