Displaying an Outdoor Nativity

Last year we displayed the outdoor Nativity scene on the front porch, but it just looked a bit too cramped and didn’t do it justice. So this year we put it in the front yard. Here are a few details we had to change…

Rustic Deer Themed Christmas Tree for Front Porch

This is part 2 of 3 creating a Merry Christmas welcome on the front porch… Once the summer wicker furniture was moved off the porch to protect it from the winter snow, I decided to add this Christmas tree, albeit not your traditionally decorated Christmas tree, to the front porch. Create a Merry Christmas Welcome

I had a lot of fun this year when I went to create a Merry Christmas welcome on the front porch of our 100 year old home. In most of the rooms or areas I decorate, I tend to pick up on a detail of some sort and repeat it in a few ways throughout the design, and this front porch Christmas design was no different…

Easy Ways to Add Spring to the Porch

With winter finally behind us, and having a few days of temps in the 50’s and 60’s last week, I decided it was, for sure and gladly, time to embrace Spring on the front porch! (although we do live in NW Wisconsin, and very likely could, and probably will get more snow this season) For this day, it was warm and I was feeling Spring! Over the years, I’ve collected a large assortment of vintage watering cans, mostly found at Read the rest of this entry

Easter Hope Sign

“…hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is lovingkindness, And with Him is abundant redemption.” Psalm 130:7

Inspired by a sign from Fyne’s Designs, I had pinned onto my Easter Pinterest board a while back, the other day I set about making my own version of a H-O-P-E sign. (there are shopping links towards the end of this post, if you’re inspired to make one yourself) Read the rest of this entry

Front Entry Before and After, Part 1

First impressions.

There are a few sayings about first impressions. There’s the one about only being able make a first impression once. On the other side of the living room…

How, Where, When and How I Use Mulch in My Landscape

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts Miracle-Gro for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

We have a quite a bit of landscaping at ‘Our House‘, now that the snow has melted, we’re finally celebrating the weather this last week, it’s been a gorgeous mid 60’s and 70’s! Yay!! Last weekend we got 6″ of snow!! I’m not kidding! It’s been a long winter and days like this last weekend are days to celebrate for sure…

All us ‘Northern Wisconsinites’ crawl out of our houses, like bears just waking up from hibernation, rub our eyes, and then do a little ‘jig’ in the lawn when we realize we’re not going to get frostbit or need to snowblow the driveway before we can leave.

Instead, we run to the barn,

push aside the shovels and snowblowers to look for gardening supplies hoping there is something we can do outside, but in reality, the ground is frozen 6″ below the top for a few more weeks, so we’re limited to picking up branches, cutting off last years foliage from the perennials, and one more thing… click here to read the rest of the story…
